Welcome, friend!

I hope this space serves to encourage you in the midst of your day today. I hope that you brew up a cup of coffee or tea of choice and cozy up and feel at home here. You’ll find real-life encouragement, favorite family recipes, resources for many areas of life, and more.

Our family of 7 (2 adults, 5 kids) lives in Southern California, and we are so thankful to have some space! So, we like to call our home a farm and homestead of sorts. We like the name “The Unhurried Farm”, as we are more of a “neighborhood farm”, is there is such a thing! We have 6 chickens, a dog, a cat, a large fruit orchard, and a growing vegetable and flower garden. Our kids love to pretend being “farm kids”.

The idea of “the unhurried farm” came from after reading one of my favorite books by John Mark Comer, called “The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry“. I knew John Mark back in high school, so I am thankful to have known him and known about this book when it was released at the end of 2019. The book is a timely word for our generation specifically, and we believe in its message! Comer talks of practicing Sabbath, of slowing your life down, and seeking to ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life, because it is the enemy of spiritual life with God (originally said by Dallas Willard). To keep technology in its appropriate place, to seek true community with people, and to craft a “rule of life” so you can be intentional. These items that are discussed in this book resounded with us, because many were already values of ours. So, when we were thinking about a name for our “farm”, this came up and really seemed to resound.

We seek to be people that are present to God, present to others.

We hope you feel at home here and have fun! We’d love to interact and have this become a fun and meaningful space for everyone!

Michelle
